As the days get warmer, our drinks get cooler. You don’t have to compromise your nutrition this summer by drinking icy drinks that are packed with sugar. Instead, here are some healthy smoothie recipes to keep you cool this summer.
Fruity Green Tea Smoothie
This one is packed with antioxidants from the green tea and berries!
- 3 tablespoons of water
- 1 green tea bag of your choice
- 2 tsp of honey or agave nectar
- 1 ½ cups frozen blueberries
- ½ ripe medium banana
- ¾ cup of vanilla soy or almond milk
Warm the water on the stove or in the microwave until it’s steaming. Steep the tea bag for a few minutes before removing, and mix the honey/agave nectar in until it dissolves. Place the berries, banana, tea, and milk in the blender. Blend on high until smooth.
Tropical Peach Smoothie
This smoothie packs a tropical punch while sneaking in a dose of protein!
- 1 cup vanilla soy or almond milk
- 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt
- ½ cup of frozen peaches
- ¼ cup mango
- ¼ cup orange juice
- 2 teaspoons vanilla whey protein powder
- 3 ice cubes
First blend together all of the liquid ingredients and protein powder and then add the fruits and ice cubes. Blend on high until mixed well.
Pineapple Banana Green Smoothie
Don’t let the color put you off, this smoothie is packed with nutrients and a great fruity flavor!
- ½ cup coconut milk
- ½ cup water
- 2 cups of stemmed spinach or baby kale
- 1 ½ cups of chopped pineapple
- 1 ripe banana, chopped
Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Add more water or ice to reach your desired consistency.
Each of the above recipes makes one serving, but can easily be doubled, tripled, etc. for larger servings. These cool smoothies will keep you cool during the warm summer months and the added core heat from your waist trainer. Happy blending!!
