5 Tips to Get Used to Wearing Your OMG Waist Trainer

How to Get Used to Wearing Your Waist Trainer

As excited as I was to finally get my waist trainer, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to comfortably jump into wearing it all day right away. As I eased my body into adjusting to wearing a waist trainer, I learned a few things along the way that made it easier on me, so keep reading to see if my tips and tricks could help you along your waist training journey.

1. Size Matters

It’s crucial that when ordering your waist trainer you get the appropriate size. Measure your waistline (without wrapping the measuring tape too tightly around your waist) and check out our size chart to see what size you are. If you think you’re in between sizes and are having a difficult time choosing one or the other, choose the larger of the two sizes. Each waist trainer has three zipper settings to adjust the trainer to your exact size, so choosing the larger of the two allows you to find your perfect fit.

2. Take it Slow

You need to allow your body plenty of time to get acclimated to wearing a snug garment for extended periods of time. For the first day of wearing my waist trainer, I only had it on for about two hours, and I gradually increased the time I wore it each day for a week until I was able to comfortably wear it all day. I also took my time getting used to the waist trainer before I even attempted to hit the gym in it (check out my tips on working out in your waist trainer).

3. There’s a Time and a Place

For the first few days of wearing your waist trainer, you might want to pick times when you know you’ll be able to relax at home as you get used to wearing your trainer. I chose to start waist training on a day where my schedule was pretty clear and I only planned to stay at home and study. This allows your body to get used to the waist trainer while not needing to focus on completing various tasks outside of the comfort of your own home.

4. Sleep it Off

I was nervous to try sleeping in my waist trainer because I feared that I would feel stiff or uncomfortable, but after unintentionally falling into a nap on the couch while I was wearing it, those fears went away. Here I am getting ready for bed while wearing my OMG Waist Trainer:

I didn’t wake up due to any discomfort during my nap, and I woke up feeling just as refreshed as I had with my previous naps sans waist trainer. I will warn you though, if you curl up into a tight little ball when you sleep, sleeping in your waist trainer probably isn’t for you. Though the waist trainer’s design allows for movement and flexibility, being in such a position while wearing it would be uncomfortable and the waist trainer isn’t designed to be on while you’re in such a position for extended periods of time.

5. Mind Your Lace

I’m very petite, so my waist trainer extends from right below my bust line all the way down to my waistline. Because of this, I found that if I wore any lacy bras, the underwire portion of them would rub on the waist trainer’s zippers and catch on them. To prevent this, wear your waist trainer at times where you won’t be wearing any of your fancy lace bras.

Stay tuned for more about my waist training experience over the next handful of weeks, and in the mean time, make sure you talk to your doctor to make sure that you don’t have any health concerns that would prevent you from being able to safely waist train.

Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers. And style is what you choose. The dress must follow the body of a woman, not the body following the shape of the dress. I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect, they are much more interesting. Fashion you can buy, but style you possess. The key to style is learning who you are, which takes years. There’s no how-to road map to style. It’s about self expression and, above all, attitude. Here you collect that information:
